How We Build

Your Build Journey

What actually happens from your first enquiry through to handover — and after.

1

You Enquire

Fill out our enquiry form and we'll call or email you to point you in the right direction — that might mean drawing up plans, working through council approval, or heading straight to a site meeting, depending on where your project is at.

2

We Meet Onsite

We visit the site together to check for anything that could affect the build — access, slope, services, neighbouring boundaries — and resolve it before pricing begins.

3

Pricing & Contract

Once everything's confirmed, we begin pricing the project. Master Builders Tasmania offers two standard contract types, and we'll help you choose the right one:

CP5 — Cost Plus. More flexible. Selections and decisions can be made as the project progresses, which suits renovations particularly well. We always provide a budget estimate upfront so you know what you're working with.

DB5 — Design & Build (Fixed Price). Works well with a detailed quote like ours. You don't need every selection locked in upfront — items not yet chosen are simply listed as PC (Prime Cost) allowances in the contract.

Example: your contract includes a $900 allowance for a shower rose. You select one that costs $1,650. That's a $750 variation — agreed and documented before it's installed, no surprises at the end.
4

During Construction

We meet onsite once a month, plus you'll get fortnightly site updates — so you always know exactly where your project is at, without having to chase us for it.

5

The Rough-In Walkthrough

Once the home is framed and the roof is on, we do a dedicated site visit — usually a few hours — to walk through every light switch, power point and plumbing fixture with you, confirming they're roughed in exactly where and how you want them, before the walls close up.

6

Selections & Finishing

Then comes the exciting part — cladding, paint colours and tiling selections come together and get installed, and the house starts to feel like your dream home.

7

Beyond Handover

We build genuine relationships with our clients — a lot become good friends — and we stay involved well after handover, checking in to make sure your home keeps performing and is maintained the way it should be, years down the track.
